Monique Douglas

Marketing and Event Manager

Monique Douglas studied dance under the direction of Terri Charlesworth at the Graduate College of Dance graduating with Honours as well as achieving a Western Australian Certificate for Academic Excellence. In 1997 she received a scholarship to continue her ballet training at the Munich Ballet Academy in Germany where she performed in Hans Van Manons “Bits and Pieces”, Jiri Kylians “Synphony in D” and a co – production between the Bolshoi Ballet and the Munich Ballet Academy in Moscow in 1999.

Monique went on to dance with the Munich Staatsoper Ballett and in 2001 she was a finalist at the AICD International Ballet Awards. Monique danced with Queensland Ballet and became a soloist with the Tasmanian Classical Ballet Company. Monique studied Arts Management at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts during which time she taught dance at Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre for over 5 years. After graduating she worked for Youth Ballet WA Inc as a Grants and Funding Officer later going on to work with the Australian Dance Theatre, Quantum Leap and the Awesome Arts Festival.

In 2004 Monique became an inaugural Board member for Youth Ballet WA Inc and remains one to this day.

Sally Braidwood

Office Manager

Sally Braidwood began her tertiary studies in 2001 at the University of Western Australia where she graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Laws. Whilst studying Sally found herself working for a series of small arts companies which prompted her to pursue a career in Arts Management where she could combine her business and legal knowledge with her love of the arts.

Since completing a Graduate Diploma in Arts Management at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Sally is excited to be working with Youth Ballet WA as their Office Manager in what is her first full time position.

Sonya Nugent

Artistic and Administration Liaison Officer

Sonya Nugent commenced fulltime dance studies under the direction of Terri Charlesworth and graduated in 2000 receiving an Honour Certificate for Outstanding Performance in Dance Studies. Sonya continued her dance studies at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School and participated in workshops and classes with various Companies and Choreographers throughout Europe. Following an engagement with the Vienna Festival, Sonya returned to Perth to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Arts Management) at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, which concluded with a ten-week placement in the Marketing Department of Sydney Dance Company. Following a contract with SDC for the Company’s 2008 Season Launch, Sonya returned to Perth.

Sonya is currently working in both an artistic and administrative capacity with YBWA combining her skills as a dancer, teacher and arts manager.
